This project will convert a 12-acre field at Mark Twain Lake’s South Fork Recreation Area from dense, tall grasses to a diverse mix of native wildflowers and shorter grasses. Through a partnership between the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Mark Twain Quail Forever Chapter, and The Habitat Association, the field will be prepared and seeded in early 2027, with ongoing management to support establishment. The improved habitat will provide quality nesting and brood-rearing cover while supporting pollinators that serve as food for young wildlife. The Habitat Association plans to donate $3,400 to cover seed costs.
